Sunday night Phoenix Police were called to a residence in north Phoenix after  a homeowner had heard something in the backyard of their home, and was concerned about a possible burglary. The incident resulted in a fatality and an injury as a result of a shooting.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the area of 35th Avenue and Bell Road.

When law enforcement officers arrived on scene, they encountered two men who had been shot. One of the victims died at the location, while the other one was rushed to a hospital with critical wounds and is fighting for their life.

An investigation is still underway and no additional details have been made public.
