Procter & Gamble has announced a recall of 8.2 million laundry detergent pods, which were distributed under different brand names, due to a packaging defect that could cause the bags to split open. This poses a potential risk for children who may accidentally access and ingest the pods. The recall was initiated to prevent any serious injuries.
The products affected by the recall are Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods, and Ariel Pods, which were all sold in the United States in flexible film bags.
According to Procter & Gamble’s recall notice, the zipper track on the outer packaging may split, potentially causing harm to children or vulnerable individuals. The ingestion of significant quantities of household cleaning products can be deadly, while the pods’ contents can also result in skin or eye injuries.
These bags were made and sold at various well-known retail outlets, such as Amazon, Big Lots, CVS, Family Dollar, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Target, Walmart, and other stores, during the period of September 2023 to February 2024.
To ensure safety, customers are advised to store the recalled product in a container that is difficult for children to open.
