Children’s Cancer Network Announces 2024 Fundraising Run

The Children’s Cancer Network announced its 14th Annual Run to Fight Children’s Cancer. The Apr. 21 event at Mesa Riverview Park will feature a 10K run, a 5K run/walk, a Cancer Survivor Walk around the pond, and a virtual run/walk option.

The races will be followed by a celebration featuring JUST ENERGY ENTERTAINMENT and Dizzie Ramsey with music, games, arts and crafts, vendors, and more.

The popular fundraising event, which celebrates survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle, is open to participants of all ages and all levels, including elite runners, joggers, and walkers.

Children’s Cancer Network (CCN) Executive Director and Co-founder Patti Luttrell said the annual run has grown to be one of the nonprofit’s largest events.

“Children’s Cancer Network has been assisting children with cancer for more than two decades,” said Children’s Cancer Network Executive Director and Co-founder Patti Luttrell. “We’re there for them and their families every step of the way, providing financial assistance, promoting education, building self-esteem, and encouraging healthy lifestyles. The Run to Fight Children’s Cancer is one of our most popular fundraising events and a great way for the greater Phoenix community to show its support for these brave children.”

This year’s race starter is Anthony Paoletti. In 2020, Anthony was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of three. Even though cancer put his young life on hold, Anthony never faltered. He woke up happy, ready to face the day and any adversity that came his way. He loves boxing and STEM projects and would like to be an inventor.

“We are so very excited to be a part of CCN’s Run to Fight Children’s Cancer.  What a great time to have fun, uplift those who are currently on a journey similar to ours and make a difference to those in need through the funds raised. Come and join Anthony on Sunday, April 21st!” said Martha, Anthony’s mom.

“We’re thrilled to have Anthony kick off this year’s event. He is an inspiration to his family, friends, classmates, and community,” added Luttrell.

Fundraising is encouraged but not required for participation. Upon registration, participants will receive the opportunity to build a fundraising team. All funds benefit the family-centered programs and services of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Children’s Cancer Network.

Children’s Cancer Network has been designated by the state of Arizona as a Qualified Charitable Organization eligible for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for cumulative donations up to $400 for individual filings and $800 for joint filings.
