Border Protection Agent Arrested For Child Sex Assault in Douglas

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent has been arrested and is being accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the Douglas Police Department, officers learned about a possible abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on Monday.

According to the Douglas Police Department, on Monday, 27-year-old Aaron Mitchell approached a teen on her way to school near Pan American and G Avenue. Police say Mitchell identified himself as a law enforcement officer and asked the girl for her documentation. The girl described to police that Mitchell was wearing a tactical vest that included a label of “POLICE.”


The teen reported that after checking her documentation, Mitchell informed her that he needed to take her to the police department. According to the Douglas Police report, Mitchell restrained the girl, put her in his vehicle and drove her to an apartment in Sierra Vista where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The investigation details that Mitchell then drove the girl back to Douglas.

Sierra Vista Police assisted Douglas Police Detectives in the arrest of Mitchell on Tuesday. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail on sexual misconduct with a minor charges.

At the time of his arrest, Mitchell was an employee of the United States Customs and Border Protection Agency.

The investigation is ongoing.
