Attorney General Kris Mayes recently announced a competition to promote awareness of fentanyl. The contest invites college and university students across Arizona to submit a public service announcement (PSA) focused on the dangers of the drug.
“More than five people die every day from opioid overdoses in Arizona,” said Attorney General Mayes. “Fentanyl’s potency and low cost means it is often laced with other illicit or counterfeit drugs. We want every young person in Arizona to know how to protect their friends and themselves from fentanyl. The PSA competition is a way for us to empower creative youth to speak directly to their peers and potentially save a life.”
Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, has contributed to the rise of opioid overdoses nationwide. This competition seeks to engage the creativity and social responsibility of Arizona’s youth in combating this crisis.
Competition Details:
- Eligibility: Open to college and university students in Arizona over the age of 18.
- Theme: The PSA should focus on educating the public about the dangers of Fentanyl.
- Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM on March 10, 2024.
- Awards: The creator(s) of the winning PSA will receive special recognition from Attorney General Kris Mayes. The winning PSA will be featured in a state-wide public service campaign, on the Attorney General’s website, across social media platforms, and at law enforcement conferences.
- Submission Guidelines: PSA submissions should run 26 seconds in length (to allow for a 4-second tag to be added by the Attorney General’s Office.)
