In the Thursday morning Arizona Department of Health Services report, there have been an additional 3,056 new coronavirus cases logged in the state. With the new cases, the state’s total number of COVID-19 cases is 63,030.
The report also added an 27 additional deaths, bringing Arizona’s total number of deaths to 1,490. Thursday was the fourth daily report of more than 3,000 cases in the week.
With the increase in cases, medical professionals are worried about the impact the hospitals will see. The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has increased by 47% in the past week and more than 100% since June 8.
As of Thursday, 10,561 PCR tests collected since Sunday had been processed, with 20% coming back positive. If that rate holds up, it would pass last week’s pandemic-high of 18%.
