Adoption Fees Waived by Maricopa County Animal Care & Control This Week to Open Up Shelter Capacity

In an effort to open up shelter capacity, several shelters in Maricopa County are currently offering free adoptions for dogs over six months old until Sunday.

The Empty the Shelters event organized by Maricopa Animal Care and Control is supported by the Bissell Pet Foundation. This foundation has successfully facilitated a total of 233,896 adoptions since 2016.

MCACC has two locations where they provide shelter for a large number of canines, ranging from young puppies to senior dogs who are in search of their forever families. The event for adoption will be held at both of the shelters owned by MCACC.

West Shelter
2500 S. 27th Avenue, Phoenix

East Shelter
2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Mesa.

Organizers of the event are optimistic that numerous dogs will be adopted and find loving homes during the Empty the Shelters event.

Heidi’s Village, a shelter for animals is also participating in the same offer. They hope that their numerous dogs find their forever loving homes.

MCACC has received more than 1,600 animals since January. At present, there are over 800 dogs eagerly waiting to be adopted and find new loving homes.

The adoption fees for dogs will be waived, allowing families who adopt to not incur any charges. All of the following standard expenses will be covered by Bissell Pet Foundation:

  • Surgery for spaying and neutering.
  • Immunizations.
  • Implantation of microchips.
  • A dog license for Maricopa County.
