Zipline to Bring Drone Delivery to Phoenix, Promising 10-Minute Service

The high-tech expansion marks another step in Phoenix’s rise as a hub for innovation and autonomous logistics.

Phoenix residents may soon see their takeout and groceries descending from the sky. Zipline, a leading American robotics and drone delivery company, announced plans to launch its on-demand drone delivery service in the Valley, expanding its U.S. operations beyond Arkansas and Texas.

The company, which already provides drone deliveries in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area, will begin serving Phoenix and Houston in early 2026. Zipline also operates internationally across Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Côte d’Ivoire, where its drones have played a major role in delivering medical supplies and essential goods.

Through the Zipline app, customers will soon be able to order from a catalog of “tens of thousands of items,” with deliveries arriving in as little as 10 minutes, according to a company announcement. The drones, designed to withstand rain and maintain temperature control, will deliver directly to precise drop-off locations—whether that’s a front yard, balcony, or business entrance.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego hailed the move as a major win for the city’s growing tech sector. “This investment will bring affordable, faster and cleaner delivery options to our community and reinforces Phoenix’s position at the forefront of the future of logistics and mobility,” she said.

Zipline recently surpassed 2 million deliveries worldwide and raised $600 million to fund its expansion, giving the company a valuation of about $7.6 billion. The company’s existing partnerships with retailers such as Walmart, Chipotle, and Panera Bread hint at what Phoenix consumers can expect when the drones officially take flight.
