The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently announced that it’s currently in possession of $1.3 billion in uncollected tax funds.

According to their estimates, there are 1.3 million Americans who haven’t filed their 2017 tax returns, which is where the refunds are coming from.

If you didn’t file your 2017 returns, know that you only have about one week to collect it. After that, the money becomes the property of the U.S. Treasury.

“We want to help people get these refunds, but they will need to quickly file a 2017 tax return,” IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a statement.

But if you can’t find your W-2s from 2017 or can’t get in touch with your former employer, you can use the IRS’s Get Transcript Online tool.
