A construction worker lost his life Wednesday afternoon after being struck by heavy machinery at a Buckeye worksite, according to local authorities.
The Buckeye Police Department reported that the fatal accident occurred at a construction site near Historic U.S. 80 and Miller Road. Investigators said a worker operating a loader—a large vehicle commonly used to transport materials such as dirt or gravel—accidentally hit another man on the site.
The victim, described only as being in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending family notification. Police confirmed that the victim’s next of kin have since been notified.
Officials have not yet released additional details about how the incident occurred or whether workplace safety investigators have been called to the scene.
The tragedy adds to a string of industrial accidents in Arizona that have raised concerns about safety practices on construction sites statewide.
