A mobile home fire in Peoria on Wednesday morning left a woman critically injured and killed one of her dogs, according to the Peoria Fire-Medical Department (PFMD).
Firefighters from both Peoria and Glendale responded to the blaze at a mobile home park near 79th and Peoria avenues, where they were alerted that someone was trapped inside. Crews quickly entered the home and rescued the woman, who was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Two dogs were also found inside the residence — one did not survive, while the other was taken into the care of animal control for further treatment.
One Peoria firefighter sustained a minor injury and was treated on scene, while another firefighter and two Peoria police officers were evaluated after being exposed to smoke. None required hospitalization.
Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire or the woman’s identity. The investigation is ongoing.
