Woman Critically Injured After School Bus Carrying 68 Students Collides With Car in Phoenix

Six children reported minor complaints as firefighters assessed all students at the scene

A woman was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday morning after a collision involving a school bus full of students in north-central Phoenix.

Emergency crews responded just after 9:30 a.m. to the area of 16th Street and Glendale Avenue. The bus, which was transporting 68 students from Sts. Simon and Jude School, collided with a passenger vehicle.

Fire crews evaluated all students in a nearby parking lot. Six children reported minor issues but did not require emergency transport. Parents picked up some of the students, while a second school bus arrived to take the rest.

The woman driving the other vehicle was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the crash.
