PHOENIX — A west Phoenix neighborhood was shaken Thursday when a 33-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing her father in broad daylight, authorities said.
Phoenix police officers responded to reports of gunfire near 101st and Oregon avenues, close to 99th Avenue and Camelback Road, around 11:50 a.m. When they arrived, they found 61-year-old Reginald Anderson dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound.
Another woman at the scene was unharmed, police said.
Suspect fled scene, later arrested in Maricopa
Investigators quickly identified Reilan Anderson, the victim’s daughter, as the suspect. She had left the area before officers arrived, but homicide detectives tracked her down in the town of Maricopa and took her into custody.
During questioning, Anderson denied any involvement in the shooting. However, police said witness interviews and other evidence provided probable cause to arrest her.
She was booked into jail on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
The investigation remains active, though police said no additional suspects are outstanding.
