Travelers driving into Arizona will soon be greeted by bold new signs featuring stylized images of the state’s eye-catching natural scenery.

“There’s no better way to welcome visitors to our state than with the natural splendor that is Arizona,” Gov. Doug Ducey, who unveiled the signs Wednesday along with other state officials, said in a press release. “We look forward to seeing these beautiful signs on our highways.”

The Arizona Department of Transportation will start replacing existing welcome signs, which are nearly 30 years old, in early 2020, according to the release.

The new signs come in six different designs, each featuring a different iconic Arizona landscape: the Grand Canyon, Saguaro National Park, Sedona’s Red Rocks, Horseshoe Bend, Flagstaff’s San Francisco Peaks and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.

Each design says “Welcome to Arizona” across the top and “The Grand Canyon State” across the bottom in white lettering.

More than 55 million people cross into the state of Arizona each year.

“From the Grand Canyon to Saguaro National Park, the beauty of Arizona’s landscapes is unrivaled,” Debbie Johnson, Arizona Office of Tourism director, said in the release. “These new signs will help our state welcome visitors with open arms and showcase all that we have to offer.”
