Wanted Washington Man shot by US Marshals in Tempe

On Thursday night, a fugitive who was wanted out of the state of Washington was shot by U.S. Marshals in Tempe.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, reportedly escaped a Washington state prison. He was wanted for robbery, assault, burglary and theft in two Washington cities. He also had a warrant for escape from the Washington State Department of Corrections.

U.S Marshals Task Force members were trying to arrest the man near McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, when he reached into the backseat of the vehicle and pulled out a gun.


Police were forced to respond and officials say the suspect was shot. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident. No further information has been provided.
