Walmart and Target Offering Gift Cards and Discounts For Car Seat Trade-In

Attention parents! Do you have a car seat or booster seat that you are no longer using? Both Target and Walmart want you to trade them in as part of their recycling effort and in exchange will give you either a gift card or a store coupon discount.

Nearly 4,000 Walmart stores nationwide will be participating in the country’s largest car seat recycling event. This is Walmart’s first-ever car seat recycling event and the company hopes to “recycle every component of the car seats.”

Walmart is offering $30 gift cards for those who bring in their car seat for the recycling program. Each household will be limited to two gift cards. Walmart will accept car seats from Sept. 16 through Sept. 30 at participating locations.

Not to be out done, Target is also launching a similar effort to recycle car seats from Sept. 3 to Sept. 13.

In exchange, Target will offer participants a 20 percent coupon for any donated used car seats. Store coupons will only be valid until Sept. 14, 2019.

“Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged,” according to company officials.
