Voter Registration Via Phone Is A Nationwide Scam

With the Nov. 6 election fast approaching, voters are being warned of a nationwide voter registration scam.

The scam works through someone calling and claiming to register people to vote if personal information is provided.

Adrian Fontes of the Maricopa County Recorder says Arizona doesn’t offer voter registration by phone.

“There’s no legitimate way to register by phone. The scammers just want to collect your personal information,” Fontes said.

There are multiple ways people can register to vote or update their voter registration in Maricopa County.

Registration can be completed online at www.servicearizona.com or in person at the following locations:

  • 111 S. Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85003
  • 510 S. 3rd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85003
  • 222 E. Javelina Ave., Mesa, AZ 85210

Oct. 9 is the deadline to register to vote in the 2018 General Election.

For those that believe they have fallen victim to the scam or for those that have additional questions, contact the county recorder’s office at 602-506-1511 or [email protected].
