Visit Museums For Free In September

For those who enjoy history, the arts and music, Smithsonian Magazine is presenting you with an opportunity to visit a variety of museums for free! As a part of the annual celebration, Smithsonian Magazine’s ‘Museum Day’ allows you free admittance to museums across the U.S. All you have to do is download a ticket.

Mark your calendars and prepare for a day of learning on Sept. 21. For those unfamiliar with the annual tradition, Museum Day is a one-day-only event in which participating museums offer free entry to patrons with a special Museum Day ticket. Museums from all over the United States participate including historical sites, heritage centers, zoos and more.

This year, Museum Day’s theme is dedicated to kicking off the “Smithsonian Year of Music,” which will kick-off the Smithsonian’s year-long schedule of programming centered around music.

“Music is a natural fit for Museum Day as this is Smithsonian’s Year of Music,” says Amy Wilkins, Chief Revenue Officer at Smithsonian Media in a press release. “It’s the perfect theme that unites us all.”

The Smithsonian estimates that over 1,500 museums plan to participate this year across all 50 states. The organization does expects more cultural institutions to join, offering patrons more options of places to visit.

To find a museum or participating institution near you, search the Smithsonian website, here and select the state of your choice. To see organizations participating in Arizona click here.

Tickets will be available for download to the public on August 15, 2019. You can download them here.
