Valley Theaters Celebrating National Cinema Day With $3 Movie Tickets

Movie Goers can take in a movie at the theaters for just $3 as part of a newly launched “National Cinema Day” to lure moviegoers back to the theaters.

The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit of the National Association of Theater Owners, recently announced that Sept. 3 will be a nationwide discount day in which more than 3,000 theaters on more than 30,000 screens will offer $3 movie tickets for every showing, in every format.

Major theater chains including Harkins Theaters, AMC and Regal Cinemas will participate, as well as Majestic Theaters, Cinemark Theatres and Picture Show Entertainment.

Labor Day weekend is historically one of the slowest weekends at theaters. Dozens of theaters around the Valley will participate in the national event with the hope to attract moviegoers to the theaters this Labor Day.

Some chains will be offering discounts on beverages and snacks as well. Harkins and Cinemark plan to offer $3 medium beverages and popcorn, while AMC will offer a $5 fountain and drink popcorn combo special.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online at each theater’s website.
