A valley dog walker has been arrested after he was caught on camera beating a dog in Chandler.

The Chandler Police Department was alerted to the incident when someone called to report they had seen a disturbing video on a video-sharing application.

Investigators said the video showed a dog walker, later identified as 36-year-old John Wyman, kicking and punching a dog he was hired to care for. The police have not released the video.

Officers used police databases to identify the dog owner. After contact with the dog owner, they gave them the name of Wyman and expressed their desire to press charges. Wyman was arrested, cited and processed for one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.
