Valley Cities Rank in Top 100 List for College Graduates to Start Careers

According to a new study from WalletHub, all of the Valley’s major cities were listed in the top 100 U.S. cities for 2015 college graduates to start their careers.

The Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metro area was the only place in the country where an abundance of major cities were in the top 100.

The Valley’s highest-ranking city was awarded to Chandler who came in at No. 34. The remainder of Arizona cities were ranked as the following:

     – Tempe = No. 39
     – Gilbert = No. 48
     – Scottsdale = No. 50
     – Phoenix and Peoria = No. 63
     – Mesa = No. 69
     – Glendale = No. 88
     – Tucson = No. 118

Not only were these cities recognized as a best place for graduates to start their careers, but they also topped the list for housing affordability and quality of life. Gilbert and Peoria ranked third and fifth for housing affordability respectively, while Chandler, Scottsdale and Tempe ranked 25th, 26th and 29th in quality of life.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, “This cluster means that the Valley offers more proximate opportunities for graduates and greater ability to find companies in the same industry for career growth without relocation. Building those job clusters is one of the most important aspects of both the Phoenix Forward and Velocity economic development plans.”
