Valley Cities Rank High for Retirees and Most Family-Friendly

Arizona took three of the top four spots for best cities for retirees according to a new national ranking. The Arizona cities that made the rankings were Mesa, Prescott and Tucson, which ranked first, third and fourth respectively.

According to Chris Kahn, a Bankrate spokesman, “The Arizona cities are rich in outdoor activities such as parks, golf courses and cultural attractions, which seem to play a significant role in senior living.”

Bankrate, who put together the rankings, based them on crime, weather, taxes and other factors.

In addition to ranking high for retirees, several Arizona cities made WalletHub’s 150 Best Cities for Families ranking. This was mainly due to Arizona’s low tax rates, which are some of the lowest in the nation. Additional factors included, family activities and fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability, and socioeconomic environment.

Gilbert was the highest ranking city coming in at No. 14 with Chandler following at No. 24. See where the other Arizona cities ranked below:

34. Peoria
40. Scottsdale
75. Mesa
91. Phoenix
97. Glendale
105. Tempe
