USPS Opens New Sorting and Delivery Center in Surprise

$154 million Arizona investment brings upgraded service and faster delivery times

SURPRISE, Ariz. — The U.S. Postal Service has opened a new sorting and delivery center in Surprise as part of a nationwide modernization effort to improve service and workplace conditions.

Located at 14995 West Bell Road, the facility began operations last month and is one of several USPS infrastructure upgrades planned throughout Arizona.

“We’re transforming our operations to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said District Manager Tina Sweeney. “The new Surprise SDC is part of our commitment to delivering faster, more reliable service while creating a better workplace for our dedicated employees.”

The Surprise facility is part of a $154 million investment in Arizona, which includes seven new buildings and over 1,100 new delivery vehicles. Nationwide, the USPS is investing $40 billion in systemwide upgrades.

The improvements are expected to bring shorter wait times, enhanced package tracking, and increased worker safety, according to USPS officials.

The postal service currently employs over 10,000 Arizonans, though it continues to face long-term financial struggles, reporting multi-billion-dollar losses in recent years.

The new facility is one component of a $17 billion effort to revitalize USPS operations nationwide.
