One Zipps Sports Grill location has begun reopening as the company navigates an ongoing federal investigation that led to the temporary closure of restaurants across the Valley.
According to a social media post published Wednesday morning, the Zipps location at McClintock and Warner in Tempe reopened at 11 a.m., marking the first confirmed reopening since federal authorities executed search warrants earlier this week at multiple locations connected to Zipps Sports Grill. The company said additional locations are expected to open in the coming days, with updates to be shared as they become available.
The reopening follows Monday’s execution of court-authorized search warrants at 15 Phoenix-area locations as part of a long-term federal criminal investigation. Federal officials have said the warrants were approved by a judge and stem from a months-long inquiry. No charges or allegations have been announced.
In a statement, Zipps addressed the investigation and the status of its restaurants, saying:
Zipps Sports Grill is aware that federal authorities executed court-authorized search warrants at a number of our locations on January 26, as part of an ongoing investigation. Federal officials have not shared details regarding the nature of the investigation, and no charges or allegations have been announced. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and working closely with our attorneys to understand the scope of the inquiry. Because this is an active matter, we are unable to comment further at this time. Zipps Sports Grill locations are currently closed, but we are working to reopen by the end of the week. We will notify our customers as soon as we resume normal operations.
The company also acknowledged recent demonstrations near some locations and asked for calm and respect for employees, nearby businesses, and the surrounding community.
Federal authorities have said evidence is still being gathered and reviewed, and that more information may be released as the investigation progresses. For now, the reopening of the Tempe location signals the first step toward resuming normal operations, even as broader questions around the investigation remain unresolved.
