U.S. Attorney Announces District Election Officer for Arizona Ahead of November 2024 General Election

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Lokey appointed to lead efforts to address voting rights concerns and election fraud in the upcoming election.

PHOENIX — The United States Attorney for the District of Arizona, Gary M. Restaino, announced on Wednesday the appointment of Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Sean Lokey as the District Election Officer for the upcoming November 5, 2024, general election. In this role, AUSA Lokey will oversee election day complaints involving voting rights, threats to election officials, and allegations of election fraud across the state of Arizona.

AUSA Lokey has been responsible for election oversight since the 2020 election cycle. He will coordinate with the Department of Justice’s nationwide Election Day Program, ensuring public confidence in the electoral process and addressing potential violations of federal election laws.

“Ensuring every eligible voter can cast a ballot without interference or discrimination is paramount,” said U.S. Attorney Restaino. “We’ve worked collaboratively with state and local law enforcement, election officials, and civic leaders to prepare for a smooth and secure election.”

The Department of Justice plays a vital role in preventing voter intimidation, violence against election officials, and election fraud. Federal laws protect voters from coercion and guarantee their rights to cast a ballot without interference.

Anyone with knowledge of election-related violations is encouraged to report concerns to AUSA Lokey at 602-514-7516 or the local FBI field office at 623-466-1999. Complaints regarding federal voting rights violations can also be reported to the Civil Rights Division at 800-253-3931.

For incidents of violence or intimidation at polling locations, voters should call 911 before contacting federal authorities.

This announcement underscores the Justice Department’s commitment to ensuring a free and fair election process.
