Phoenix police have arrested two women following a weeklong investigation into a fatal shooting that left a 48-year-old man dead in west Phoenix, although only one of the suspects has been charged in connection with the homicide.
Investigators booked 29-year-old Trinidad Onika Brown on one count of second-degree murder in the death of Otis Sueing Jr. A second woman, 50-year-old Trinidad O. Black, was arrested on outstanding felony warrants and multiple drug-related charges, including possession of narcotic drugs for sale and possession of dangerous drugs for sale. Police have not announced any homicide charges against Black.
The investigation began after officers responded to a shooting near Indian School Road and 43rd Avenue on June 19. Police found Sueing suffering from gunshot wounds in critical condition. Detectives believe he was shot before attempting to drive away, ultimately crashing his vehicle at the location where officers found him. He later died at a nearby hospital.
Authorities said detectives spent the following week developing the case before arresting both women with assistance from the department’s Street Crimes Unit, DEB Technical Surveillance team, and Special Assignments Unit. Search warrants executed at two Phoenix residences led to the recovery of additional evidence as the investigation continues.
