Two Teens in Critical Condition After ATV Plunges Into Dry Phoenix Canal

Emergency crews rescued the teens after the vehicle fell 30 feet into the canal

PHOENIX – Two teenagers were seriously injured Thursday evening after their all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crashed into a dry canal in Phoenix, leaving both in critical condition.

Phoenix police responded to reports of the crash around 5:30 p.m. near 47th Avenue and Cholla Street, between Peoria Avenue and Cactus Road. Emergency crews found the ATV approximately 30 feet down in a dry storm canal, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Firefighters worked quickly to extract both teens from the wreckage before rushing them to a nearby hospital. Authorities described their condition as extremely critical.

Officials have not yet released details about what caused the accident or whether any other vehicles were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
