Two Men Dead After Fight Turns Violent in Phoenix

Police say both men shot each other during altercation

PHOENIX — Authorities say two men died Saturday morning after a fight in Phoenix escalated into a deadly confrontation involving both a gun and a knife.

Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. near 22nd Place and Roosevelt Street, where they found 28-year-old Malik Hopkins and 37-year-old Warren Middlebrooks with serious injuries. Both were taken to a hospital but later died.

Investigators believe the men were fighting over a gun when shots were fired. Hopkins also suffered stab wounds in the struggle.

Police said no other individuals were involved, and the case remains under investigation.
