Two Men Arrested in Connection with $315,000 Family Dollar Burglaries Across Phoenix and Glendale

Suspects Allegedly Targeted Nine Family Dollar Stores, Stealing Safes and Cash in Coordinated Crime Spree

PHOENIX – Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries targeting Family Dollar stores across the Valley, resulting in the theft of over $315,000 in cash, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The suspects, 34-year-old Yosvanys Martinez and 40-year-old Alexei Alvarez, were taken into custody following an extensive investigation involving multiple special units.

Authorities revealed that the duo allegedly broke into nine different Family Dollar stores in Phoenix and Glendale by cutting power to the buildings, disabling video surveillance systems, and gaining access through the back doors. Once inside, the suspects stole store safes or broke into them to take large sums of cash.

Police added that Martinez and Alvarez also attempted to cover their tracks by disposing of evidence in the Gila River. In addition to the $315,000 stolen, the two men caused an estimated $150,000 in property damage across the stores.

Search Warrants Lead to Breakthrough

During searches of the suspects’ residences, investigators uncovered $40,000 in cash, security uniforms, burglary tools, and two safes connected to the crimes. Both Martinez and Alvarez were booked on multiple burglary charges on October 4.

The arrests mark the culmination of a coordinated law enforcement effort to put an end to the crime spree, which affected several Family Dollar locations across the Valley.

While no further details have been released, the Phoenix Police Department is continuing its investigation into the case.
