Two Men Arrested for Murder of Pregnant Phoenix Teen, Including Unborn Child’s Father

36-year-old suspect also faces charges of sexual misconduct with a minor

PHOENIX — Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a pregnant 16-year-old girl who was fatally shot in Maryvale last month. One of the suspects is identified as the father of the victim’s unborn child.

Jurrell Davis, 36, and Jechri James-Gillett, 18, were both booked into jail on murder charges, Phoenix police announced Friday. In addition, Davis faces a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Pregnant Teen Fatally Shot in Maryvale Park

The victim, Zariah Finley Dodd, was 22 weeks pregnant when she was shot and killed on July 5 at a park near 55th Avenue and Osborn Road. Firefighters pronounced her dead at the scene. Her unborn daughter also did not survive the shooting.

Davis was allegedly the father of the unborn child, according to police.

Investigators have not released details regarding the motive or the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
