A shooting at a west Phoenix shopping center left two people hospitalized Tuesday night as authorities worked to identify and locate the suspect responsible.
The incident occurred at Desert Sky Mall near Thomas Road and 75th Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two victims suffering from injuries. Police said one person sustained serious injuries, while the second victim’s wounds appeared to be non-life-threatening. Both individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
As investigators secured and searched the area, multiple people were detained and questioned. However, police said none of those individuals were believed to be the shooter.
Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting or provided a description of the suspect. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Police continued processing the scene Tuesday night while working to gather witness statements and review evidence in an effort to identify the person responsible. No arrests had been announced as of late Tuesday evening.
