Buckeye police say a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy are facing weapons misconduct charges after officers responded to reports of a group displaying a gun at a neighborhood park Wednesday evening.
Witnesses told police they saw several boys showing off a firearm around 5:45 p.m. near Dean and Yuma roads. Officers located a 10-year-old who had a gun matching the witness description, according to the department. A 16-year-old was also identified as being involved.
Authorities have not yet determined who owns the gun.
The 10-year-old was released to his guardians, while the 16-year-old was booked into jail as the investigation continues.
