PHOENIX, AZ – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with an animal cruelty case in Surprise, Arizona, after security footage captured them abandoning a dog near a walking trail, authorities confirmed Monday.
Surprise Police Investigate Abandoned Dog
On Saturday, officers responded to a call near Peoria Avenue and Perryville Road, where a concerned residentreported finding a dog wandering alone. The caller took the dog to a safe location and contacted a neighbor, who reviewed security camera footage from their home.The video showed a red SUV pulling up behind the house, the passenger door opening, and the dog being pushed outonto the street. The neighbor turned over the footage to the Surprise Police Department, leading to an immediate investigation.
Suspects Turn Themselves In
Police identified the individuals involved as 20-year-old Logan Gambill and 26-year-old Priscilla Galanos. Both suspects turned themselves in on Monday.Galanos was charged with animal cruelty, while Gambill was charged with conspiracy to commit animal cruelty, according to law enforcement officials.
Dog to be Turned Over to Arizona Humane Society
Following the abandonment, the dog was placed in the care of Surprise Animal Control. Authorities confirmed that the Arizona Humane Society will take over care for the dog later this week.
