PHOENIX — Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a 2024 homicide in Glendale, following a months-long investigation aided by forensic evidence and community tips.
The suspects — 33-year-old Maricela Alexis Bahschnitt and 35-year-old Jonathan Vazquez — were taken into custody Tuesday and booked on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges, according to the Glendale Police Department.
The investigation began on November 11, 2024, when officers discovered the body of Grant Siefert in a retention basin near 56th and Peoria avenues. Court documents reveal that Siefert had been stabbed 36 times, including wounds to his head, chest, and arms. Investigators also noted injuries to his neck, and duct tape was found wrapped around one of his wrists.
At the time, Siefert had been reported missing by his mother.
A break in the case came when a tipster provided information linking Bahschnitt and Vazquez to the crime. Detectives collected DNA evidence from Siefert’s fingernail clippings and, on July 2, received confirmation that the genetic material matched Bahschnitt, according to court records.
Glendale police said both suspects were arrested without incident. The case remains under investigation.
