Last week, a different approach was taken to increase awareness for safe driving by the Tucson Police’s Operation Division South Motor Squad.

Mannequins were placed at different intersections around the City of Tucson in an attempt to decrease accident statistics, according to the department. The effort is also meant to improve awareness of a driver’s surroundings and urge them to pay better attention.

Dressed like police officers and placed in or around police vehicles, the mannequins were stationed near intersections that have been or are currently known for major vehicle collisions.

This marked the first time that the Tucson Police Department used mannequins through this technique.

According to the Tucson Police Department, drivers can expect to see the mannequins out again in the near future.
