A Tucson man has been sentenced to more than 16 years in federal prison for sexually abusing a child on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
U.S. District Judge Sharad H. Desai sentenced 25-year-old Cylus Miller Alvarado on January 15, 2026, to 192 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Alvarado previously pleaded guilty to one count of abusive sexual contact of a child.
Investigators found that between April 2022 and June 2023, Alvarado had repeated sexual contact with a minor under the age of 12 at a home in Parker, Arizona. Both Alvarado and the victim are enrolled members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Phoenix and Lake Havasu offices along with the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina J. Reid-Moore of the District of Arizona.
Federal officials emphasized the seriousness of crimes involving child victims and reaffirmed their commitment to prosecuting sexual abuse cases on tribal lands. The sentence reflects ongoing efforts between federal and tribal authorities to protect children and bring offenders to justice.
