Trump Signs Memorandum Addressing Water Issues In Western U.S.

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum while in the Phoenix area last week for a campaign rally that addresses water issues in the western United States.

Signed in Scottsdale, the order directed the government to streamline regulations that according to Trump are influencing work on four major water projects. The four projects in question are the Central Valley Project and the California State Water Project in California, the Klamath Irrigation Project in Oregon and the federal Columbia River system in the Pacific Northwest.

The Interior and Commerce departments are directed to pick up the pace on environmental reviews, streamline regulations and create a timeline in order to comply with the regulations, all at the direction of the memorandum.

Trump says that this will be a major help to the arid West, an area that has the irrigation of crops and supplying cities depending on federally-funded water projects.
