A professional tree trimmer was safely rescued Monday after becoming stranded roughly 40 feet up a palm tree in Phoenix following an equipment malfunction.
Technical rescue crews from the Phoenix Fire Department and Glendale Fire Department responded to the area near 35th and Northern avenues around 12:15 p.m.
Fire officials said the worker became stuck high in the tree after his climbing equipment malfunctioned, leaving him unable to descend safely on his own.
The first ladder truck to arrive at the scene was able to reach the stranded worker and bring him safely back to the ground without the need for specialized rescue equipment.
Officials said the man was not injured and declined any additional medical treatment after the rescue.
