PHOENIX — A tree trimmer is in extremely critical condition after being rescued from a 50-foot palm tree in Phoenix on Saturday morning, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the area near 65th and Virginia avenues around 9:30 a.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Coworkers told authorities that part of the palm tree collapsed onto the man, rendering him unresponsive while he was still elevated in the tree.
Phoenix firefighters used rope systems, drone technology, ladders, and chainsaws to safely reach and remove the man from the tree.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
No additional details have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
