Traveling Vietnam Memorial To Make A Stop In Peoria

A half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., is scheduled to make a stop at Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria Sept. 5-9. The monument will be open to visitors 24 hours a day.

Created in 1984, the Moving Wall monument has been traveling the country for more than 30 years. The last stop in Arizona was July 2018 in Surprise.

The memorial replica features 58,000 names of men and women who were killed or went missing during the Vietnam War.


The Vietnam memorial travels the country as an opportunity for people who are not able to visit Washington, D.C. to see the original, full-size memorial.

In addition those interested in visiting the Moving Wall, the city of Peoria is looking for volunteers who are interested in working during the monuments time in Arizona. The exhibit requires an onsite host, an assembly and disassembly team, food donations and preparations and also event support.
