Tourism Suspension Extended for Havasupai Falls

On Friday, the Havasupai Tribal Council announced it has passed a resolution extending the suspension of tourism until February 1, 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The vote is a reflection from the council that feels it is in the best interests of the community and tribal members to extend the closure of its reservation.

Tourist that hold reservations during the suspension period will have an option to have their plans rescheduled for the same dates in 2022.

At this point, no further permits will be issued for the remainder of 2021 or 2022.

The tribe has had no reports of the coronavirus, however this action is out of an abundance of caution because the virus could spread quickly through Supai Village and the community is only reachable by helicopter, foot or mule.

To prevent the spread of the virus, the Tribal Council has ordered residents to stay home, except to get essential items.
