A young child is in critical condition following a near-drowning at a Phoenix home Saturday evening, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around 5:24 p.m. to a residence near 21st Avenue and Utopia Road after reports of a possible drowning. Before first responders arrived, family members had already pulled the toddler from the pool and transported the child to a hospital.
Authorities said the child suffered life-threatening injuries. Additional details about how the incident occurred have not yet been released.
