Thriftbooks to Open Large Processing Center in Phoenix

Online independent seller ThriftBooks plans to beef up its presence in Phoenix with a 190,000-square-foot processing center scheduled to open in May, the company announced Wednesday.

The Seattle-area used book dealer has been operating in the Valley since 2011 but the space at 93rd Avenue and Buckeye Road will allow for more support of e-commerce that includes Amazon, eBay and Etsy.

“The new ThriftBooks facility provides residents across the region with employment opportunities, and we wish them nothing but success,” Chris Camacho, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, said in a press release.

The move will open up 150 positions, some of which are managerial; others are for product sorters, machine line operators and inventory control specialists.

Jobseekers can attend an open house at 9393 W. Buckeye Road, Suite 125 and sit for interviews and take a tour of the site Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“With its advantageous market conditions, strong labor market, and geographic positioning, Phoenix offers us an incredibly exciting opportunity to expand our footprint in the region,” Michael Teague, vice president of operations, said in a press release.
