Three Hospitalized After Suspected DUI Crash in Glendale

Police say an allegedly impaired driver ran a stop sign and collided with another car, sending three people to the hospital Saturday morning.

Three people were injured and taken to the hospital after a two-car crash in Glendale that police believe was caused by an impaired driver.

The Glendale Police Department reported that officers responded to the intersection of 61st and Maryland avenues early Saturday after receiving calls about a serious collision. Investigators say a woman driving southbound on 61st Avenue allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle traveling westbound.

The impact sent the second car crashing through a residential fence and into the backyard of a nearby home. Emergency crews transported three people to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The driver accused of causing the crash is being processed on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police have not yet released her name as the investigation continues.

Officials remind drivers that impairment, whether from alcohol or drugs, remains one of the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes in Arizona. The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety encourages motorists to plan ahead for a sober ride and report suspected impaired drivers to 911.
