Three Chandler Teens Charged After Overnight Vandalism at Conley Elementary

Police say surveillance video shows youth smashing devices, breaking into storage sheds

Three Chandler teenagers are facing a slate of criminal charges after police say they broke into Conley Elementary School last month and caused roughly $5,000 in damage.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 at the campus near Frye and Dobson roads. According to the Chandler Police Department, surveillance video captured a 16-year-old boy and two 14-year-olds — a boy and a girl — entering a classroom and hurling school-issued computers and tablets to the floor, destroying multiple devices.

Investigators said the group also forced their way into two aluminum storage sheds on campus, scattering sports equipment across the playground and even onto the roof. Images of the damage, shared by police in an online post, later prompted community tips that helped detectives identify the suspects. That post remains available on the department’s official Facebook page, where investigators initially sought the public’s help.

All three teens are now facing charges that include burglary, criminal damage and interference with an educational institution — allegations police say reflect the extent of the destruction left behind.
