PHOENIX – More than $75 million in federal infrastructure grants is being awarded to three Arizona airports—Tucson International, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway, and Laughlin/Bullhead International—through the 2024 Airport Improvement Program. These grants, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aim to enhance airport operations, safety, and efficiency.
Tucson International Airport will receive the largest portion, with approximately $55 million to support the ongoing relocation of one of its runways. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will get $17.9 million for phase one of its runway reconstruction, while Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport will use nearly $3 million to rehabilitate a section of its taxiway.
The funding stems from a historic $25 billion investment in aviation infrastructure, championed by Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly. “These investments will increase passenger safety, ensure our airports operate at full capacity, and create good-paying jobs for Arizonans,” Kelly said.
The grants are part of larger, multi-phase projects designed to rehabilitate critical airport infrastructure across the state.
