Thousands Of Fentanyl Pills Found Stuffed In Tamales At Arizona-Mexico Border

Drug smugglers are attempting to get more creative when trying to smuggle drugs across the border into the U.S. from Mexico.

On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that officers at the Nogales, Arizona, Port of Entry noticed something unusual during an inspection. Officers found a cooler full of tamales inside. Upon examining the food, they discovered 2,100 fentanyl pills stuffed inside the tamales.

Officials said each of the tamales contained a baggie of blue pills hidden inside.

The head of the port of entry, Michael Humphries, thanked the officers and the K-9 teams for “maintaining a high level of vigilance.” No additional information has released.
