Things To Do Over Memorial Day Weekend

There’s so much to do on a warm summer day like Memorial Day in Arizona! During this special day, we recognize those who have fought for our country. Here are events you can attend around the Valley over Memorial Day weekend.

The Chandler’s Field of Honor Veterans Memorial invites families and friends of Veterans to celebrate the dedication of the First Phase of Chandlers Fields of Honor Memorial. This celebration includes music by The Chandler Fire as well Health & Medical Department Pipes & Drums Corps. Chandler President, Lieutenant Colonel David Althoff will also lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Another great event is the “Flags for Our Fallen” motorcycle tribute at the Phoenix National Cemetery. This event will salute veterans with a formal flag ceremony. You can sponsor a flag for $10 and can register online to attend the ceremony. The event will be held Monday, May 30 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

If you’re in Laveen, Arizona on May 27 the “Star Spangled Celebration” is a great event for the whole family. The event will feature water play areas, live music, fireworks and inflatable jump houses. The fireworks and display for fallen police officers, veterans and fireman will begin at 5 p.m.

Lastly, you and your family can enjoy the “Memorial Day Observance” in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will be held at the Pioneer & Military Memorial Park on May 30 at 9 a.m. This year the Associate Dean of Arizona State University will be speaking about memorial history.
