Teen Sentenced to 31 Years for Murder in Drug Robbery Scheme

17-year-old lured victims using a fake Instagram account, resulting in a deadly encounter.

PHOENIX, AZ – Guillermo Amador III, now 19, has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for the murder of Emilie Gomez and the assault of Dallas Massaro, stemming from a violent drug robbery in December 2022.

Amador, who was 17 at the time of the crime, orchestrated the robbery by creating a fake Instagram account to lure Massaro to a remote location under the pretense of purchasing marijuana and THC vapes. Massaro brought his girlfriend, Emilie Gomez, to what he thought would be a routine transaction.

After a brief interaction, Amador pulled a gun, fatally shooting Gomez in the face and critically injuring Massaro, who survived but was left with severe, lifelong injuries. Amador stole a bag of marijuana and THC vapes before fleeing the scene.

Charges and Sentence

Amador pleaded guilty to:

  • One count of Second-Degree Murder (Dangerous), a Class One Felony
  • One count of Aggravated Assault (Dangerous), a Class Three Felony

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell emphasized the gravity of the case:
“This case is a clear example of the rise we have seen throughout our county where youth are participating in extreme acts of violence,” said Mitchell. “At the time of this murder, the defendant was 17 years old, and for this horrific crime, he will spend decades in prison.”

Amador’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violent crime, particularly among youth, and highlights the county’s commitment to seeking justice for victims and their families.
