Teen Passenger Dies in Off-Road Motorcycle Crash in Peoria

Three others injured after collision on Old Carefree Highway

A Sunday afternoon ride turned tragic in Peoria when a teenager was killed and three others were injured in a collision between two off-road motorcycles, police said.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. on Old Carefree Highway, about a mile west of Lake Pleasant Parkway. According to the Peoria Police Department, both motorcycles were traveling westbound when one slowed while approaching a curve and was struck from behind by the other.

Each bike carried a driver and a passenger. Authorities said a 14-year-old riding as a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The two drivers—ages 18 and 19—and the second passenger were hospitalized with injuries that have not yet been detailed.

Investigators do not believe impairment played a role in the crash. The case remains under investigation.
